We had a late night last night. We walked around the Quinta Avenida with faces painted. There were many others so we didn’t stand out all that much. We found a great deal on some beer. I think it was 2¢ per ounce. Mar, the new spaniard, is an accountant, she did all the negotiating. Then we went on a hunt for cheap Mojitos which took us all over the tourist district. The one we finally settled for was delicious but cost the same as a substantial meal at a local place. Tourist prices are so inflated.

Jill set her alarm for this morning and her phone made the helpful adjustment to daylight savings time. Mexico has some kind of daylight savings time but it started last week. Anyway, Jill was an hour behind and confused for a while this morning. Everything turned out fine after Jill swore at her phone. We said goodbye to our Playa del Carmen friends and walked to breakfast. Our luck brought us to a neat supermercado/deli with delicious food. Jill also found coconut milk and oats! We are going to have a wonderful breakfast tomorrow. We taxied our way to the bus station and hopped on the express to Tulum. Upon arrival, we started walking to the Lobo Inn, where we had a room booked. On our way down the street we passed 2 vegetarian restaurants and a bar with 2×1 mojitos. We stopped for a break. The mojitos were delicious. The guacamole was creamy and perfect. The televised USA football game was strange. The TV was loud and the announcers were speaking Spanish. There were 3 gentleman from the USA stitting nearby watching and discussing intricacies in English. It was odd to see and hear. We found our way to the hostel and hung up the washing that hadn’t dried before packing in Playa. The room looks like a dry-cleaning service. We bicycled to one of the Vegetarian restaurants and had supper. It was expensive but delicious. Jill had a Poblano stuffed with tofu, I ate some home made ravioli. There were so many more mouthwatering dishes on the menu, the prices are the only reason we won’t exclusively eat there. We bicycled around town a bit because the weather is amazing. We looked for a snorkeling trip to go on and may swim at a cenote tomorrow.

There are a lot more people at this hostel but Jill and I are the newcomers and probably leaving tomorrow. We probably won’t meet many folks here. At the Hacienda del Sol our host took time to introduce everyone and took us out to eat as well. It went a  long way to break the ice and cemented many relationships. There were also only 4-7 of us. Matt the Canadian was a great motivator for group activities and we all benefitted from it.

Are there bicycles to borrow at the hostel and did you buy another phone that doesn’t work so well? : ) The vegetarian food sounds so delicious!
