So here we are in Granda. It took 18 hours to get here and 2 border crossings. The Ticabus ride was run of the mill. I watched The Dark Knight Rises with English subtitles and Pirates of the Caribbean without. Jill slept the whole way. We arrived in Managua, hopped in a taxi, got on another bus, and finally another taxi. Now we are in a large studio apartment for a few days. We walked around the city today. It’s warmer and more humid than Antigua. It’s Sunday and everything felt a little deserted this morning. We had breakfast at Kathy’s Waffle House. Oddly enough there were no waffles under the house specials section of the menu. We walked over to Lake Nicaragua which is enormous. Granada is at the north end. There was a steady breeze blowing from the east and all I wanted was to go sailing on it. There were no sailboats out, I asked a fellow and he said no, there aren’t any sailboats around. It was heart breaking. Maybe I can build one.
After the lake we found La Union supermarket which appears to be run by Walmart and stocked up on some stuff for our 3 day stay. Now Jill is chopping vegetables and gushing about her kitchen.
