Kuala Lumpur

Has it been so long? Jill and I made it to Malaysia. Before leaving Vietnam we managed to fall in love with it. I even got a goodbye kiss on my calf from a hot tailpipe. It doesn’t quite match the greeting kiss I got on my other ankle when we arrived. That’s all in the past though. We are making a short term nest in Kuala Lumpur. Right now i am sitting in a coffee shop, sipping on a burnt glass of iced coffee. Through the window, KL morning traffic jerks past. It seems to stay within the lines here more so than in HCMC. The lines on the road seem fresher. There are also lines on the sidewalk between the squares of tile. People of all stripes shamble along. It’s as multicultural as it gets here. Tourists on the adventure of a lifetime and the others who create that exotic feel. This isn’t Kansas. There are also lines on the window to keep it from shattering. They obstruct and order my view simultaneously. This coffee shop is a refuge and place of detached observation. It’s kind of like watching TV. The other day, Jill and I visited a mosque and met some delightful people. It’s almost time to walk away from the lines and meet some more people.

Martin, you write beautifully. Your prose could as easily be formated as poetry. Stay safe, both of you.
