Yesterday, Jill and I took the ferry across the Rip to Sorrento. We started in Queenscliffe with Jess and Katie and visited a few shops, then ran to catch the ferry and left them to thrift shopping. The boat ride was nice. The sun came out. Million dollar houses peek out of the bluffs and moored boats litter the shoreline. The water is clear and blue or green. We docked in Sorrento near the city beach and watched the cars and bicycles disembark. Up the hill we bought some tickets for the new James Bond movie and went to lunch. Jill had a quinoa salad and I ate a ploughman’s lunch. I wouldn’t recommend my dish because its just ham cheese and bread, at least I wouldn’t recommend spending much money on it. We saw our movie. It was a standard save the world and the girl movie. Afterwards, we wandered a bit more and found a baguette and the beach. A rude seagull chased his competitors away in the hope of our crumbs. He would squawk and run after any that got to close. I don’t know why he was so special but he did not get rewarded for such behavior. We hopped back on the ferry to Queenscliffe and took a bus back to Katie’s. On the ferry’s television I got wind of what happened in Paris. Another terrorist attack. Back at the house we got a better picture of the tragedy. It is a melancholy cap to put on an idyllic day. If only James Bond would swoop in to save the day. Tomorrow, its off to Adelaide.
