The Manatee Rehab Center in Iquitos was amazing. I got to feed baby manatees that were being prepared for release back into the Amazon. They also had a bunch of monkeys and a few Macaws.  We went back to Lima the next day. I meant to put up something about our time in Lima. We explored more of the Barranco neighborhood and visited the largest fountain park in the world by the national stadium. We watched the sunset and weren’t in a hurry to do much else. It was our last 4 days in South America. I managed to contract a cold two days before leaving. Jill miraculously escaped it though. Our flight back to Florida lifted off at 11 PM and landed at 6 AM or something. Our seats were immediately in front of the emergency exit row. We should have gotten a discount for those seats though. They don’t recline. Sitting in seats that don’t recline on a red eye flight is torturous and maybe is torture. There was not a comfortable position for me and I had a cold. Landing was mixed because my sinuses pounded and my ears screamed but returning to the ground meant closer to sleep.

All we needed to do was pick up a rental car and drive 3 hours across the state. The plane ticket to Fort Lauderdale was $200 cheaper than the ticket to Fort Myers. These are the ways of our airways. I slept in the car and Jill took us to our refuge on Pine Island where we both slept for 4 hours.

Today is a new day, I am feeling somewhat better and Jill is puttered around in the kitchen. We are both happy to have a space mostly to ourselves.
