We did some laundry yesterday. Jill froze without her dirty layers. We went to school. We studied. We learned. Jill continues to get over her cold. Jill made tuna pesto spaghetti. I had suggested tuna pesto oatmeal noodles but thankfully that was voted down. Last night we tried the local moonshine Pox, pronounced, posh. We had teeny cups of it that were accompanied by orange slices and chocolate truffles. The truffles were the best I’ve had in a long time. The Pox wasn’t terrible, that’s high praise. We then went to Él Cau tapas bar and we tried Mezcal. The stuff we had tastes smoky like bourbon and sweet but not overly so.
This morning we met a Floridian whose grandparents live on Pine Island. Then he said he was going to Guatemala. Then he said he was going to Semuc Champey. Then he said he was going to volunteer at the Utopia hostel. If you’ve been paying attention, we stayed at the owner’s house in Coban for 3 weeks. Jill told him all about Utopia and Semuc, he got pretty excited. We will try to send a postcard to our Guatemalan amigios via our new friend.
I got all bundled up this morning and now the sun is out and I have to go change clothes. Days here involve lots of layers. In MN too sure, but here they get removed and replaced a lot. It mostly depends on whether you’re in a sunbeam or not.
