1/13/2015 San Cristobal

Our teacher looked like Don Quijote. Instead of a pot on his violently subdued grey hair he wore a black beret. Of course a beard and mustache matched the hair and fit his craggy face to a Tee. He taught extemporaneously, preferring, like our everyday experience, to lay it all on us at once.
I realized quickly and I think so did he that I didn’t understand a lot of his Spanish. My ears aren’t tuned to it yet which is a bit frustrating after so long around it. I feel like I could hear french words better during our visit of only 2 weeks to that country. He switched to mostly English and we learned about some past tenses of estar and many other words. He was a good teacher and I’m looking forward to today’s lesson. Our afternoon teacher is a woman named Laura. With her we learned mostly vocabulary and spoke in Spanish. Jill got her to explain how to ask for a haircut. Later in the evening we did an intercambio with an English learner for an hour. That was fun as well. Describing our trip in Spanish is pretty easy now as we’ve done it more than I can remember.
Hasta Luego
Here’s a picture of the tallest building in San Cristobal. The Eiffel Tower is on top. Coincidentally, Jill and I have been eating a baguette a day. The bakeries here are amazing.
